"The following record has been typed exactly as it was found. The only change from the original record is a few alphabetical corrections which were made for your convenience.
"The original record was compiled by Richard Rush, comptroller of the Treasury Department, Controller Office, August 31, 1812, from the "Register of Invalid Pensions" remaining in that office on that date."
Contains introductory remarks on the September 29, 1789, Act of Congress, which directed the payment of pensions, and the eventual payment to some pensioners as a result of the Act of March 18, 1818.
The list is of Pennsylvania pensioners who were named the Pension Books commencing March 4, 1789, with date to when paid. Also contains information on some pensioners as to service rank, if transferred to another state or department, and if dead.… (mehr)
