Alice and Chris are back at it once again, five years later. With reconnecting after Chris’s sudden departure years ago, mixed feelings of love, tension and conflict follows the pair in both finding their new paths of life.

I have enjoyed this series so far and love the writing of Jamie Beth Cohen. I appreciate how there is realistic scenarios that are discussed (Alice’s drinking and eating habits, Chris’s sobriety, Career paths, etc.). Although Alice and Chris are pretty young, these type of conflicts do occur with younger aged individuals and is very rarely discussed.

Liminal Summer is the second book in the Alice Burton series. If you have not read the first book in the series (Wasted Pretty), I highly recommend reading it before continuing with the second book. I hope this series continues and it goes further into the topics around substance use and eating issues. Bringing more awareness and reality to these scenarios would be super interesting and unique.

If you enjoy rekindling of romance and stories around finding your own self, this book is a perfect fit. Overall, Jamie Beth Cohen wrote a fantastic sequel and I hope this series continue! Bravo!… (mehr)

I had doubts that Alice would never stop drinking because she always got plastered and some one always looked out for her and took her home, but she had just finished college and had worked at a record store to pay her brother's rent. She was waiting to see if she was accepted for a fellowship in New York where her best friend was and she really wanted to be there. Her boyfriend had left her without word five years ago, but now Chris is back with his band and wants to connect again. This novel had me angry at Alice, her mom, dad and her brother and THEY put the meaning of DYSFUNCTIONAL!… (mehr)
