Little Kid Reaction: My son did not have a strong reaction to the book. He enjoyed listening to the story and he, of course, loved the part about the CAKE!

Big Kid Reaction: The illustrations were rich and detailed with LOTS to discover. The story, while, awkward, had a VERY loving and positive feel to it. That being said, I am not a huge fan of the Rip Squeak books. I have read others, and he stories consistently feel disjointed to me: jumps in the stories from one page to the next that I don't understand.

My little boy loved it!!! He is four and made the story a lot longer with extra details while looking at the wonderfully colorful pictures. I definitely recommend it!!

The story begins and ends with Rip Squeak, Jesse, Abbey and Euripides becoming bored and finding solace in books. Though it does a fair job of encouraging younger readers to read in order to expand their imagination, the narrative itself is uninteresting, uninspired and rather mundane.… (mehr)
