Pacey but silly WIP film from The Asylum that sees Anna (Sara Malakul Lane) being sentenced to a juvenile detention centre after accidentally killing her sexually abusive stepfather. Inside Anna encounters violence, racial segregation, gang wars, mental illness, a predatory warden (Steve Hanks), hard drugs and lesbianism. She has a crack at each of them before redemption and achieving parole. Writer / director Jared Cohn attempts to emulate the tropes of classic WIP movies but tries to squeeze too much into the narrative making the film artifical and cartoonish. The shot-on-video look, the amateurish acting, the unrealistic violence and the plastic lesbianism give the film an improbable edge that is a mile away from the sleazy grubbiness of the classic WIP film. On the up side Sara Malakul Lane is great in the lead role; she gives a reasonable performance, has a great look and is keen to display her spectacular (if obviously enhanced) breasts at any opportunity.… (mehr)
