I received a free copy of this novel in exchange for an honest review. This is book two of The Neve and Egan Cases. Alexandra Neve and Ashland Egan are at it again in this action filled mystery. Doris Hargrave seeks out Neve and Egan to assist her in finding a beautiful ruby heart pendant, a family heirloom and the only item she has of her parents both of whom were murdered in the Holocaust. This is a particularly bizarre case as this is the second time it has been stolen. Ms. Hargrave is desperate to have it back before she passes away or her granddaughter gets married. Time is running out and Alexandra inadvertently puts her mom and Egan in harm’s way. Will they be able to unravel this mystery? Will Alexandra be able to keep everyone she holds dear safe?

This was a hard book to put down. Every page was filled with so much intrigue that you had to find out what happened next. You will easily connect with the main character, Alexandra Neve, as she strives to protect her friend Ashland and her mother. I couldn’t help but enjoy the story and the historical background of the Holocaust as well. This was a great mystery, a wonderful book to snuggle up under a blanket on a cold evening to read.

This seven-hour NC17 paranormal about the tribulations of Bellamy Vale is set mostly in Cold City and, although it is Book 4 in the series, works well as a stand-alone.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is a fairly good mystery detective novel. Private investigators Alexandra Neve and Ashford Egan are entangled in a series of crimes involving abduction and ritual killing of budding female music stars. They manage to score leads where the police cannot, but the police in charge nevertheless, would prefer they butt out of the investigation. This does not settle well with either PI, so they stay in and manage to find the only clues in the case the police or anyone else have. This was a very interesting book to read. The plot takes a great many twists and turns, so I never really knew what was going to happen next. How the author managed to put this mystery together in such a skillful way only underscored her wonderful writing skills and clever imagination. I have not read any other of her works but will definitely be looking for them after reading this book. This is a real keeper and a must read for the reader who enjoys a good crime mystery. Just how the two PI’s put the facts together, finding and tying together clues is fascinating and definitely held my interest from the very beginning. I received this book free in exchange for an honest review.… (mehr)

I received this book as a review copy through LibraryThing.com earlier this year, but only got around to reading it recently.

I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. The detective duo combination of a university student (Neve) and her blind history professor (Egan) is very good, and the way their relationship develops while investigating the suicide of one of Neve's friends is believable and interesting.

Throw in the (as usual in these types of story) incompetent/unfriendly police inspector, the lower-ranked police detective willing to help, the Russian mafia, people smugglers, corruption at the top .... well it all starts to sound familiar. But the way Christelle Comby puts it all together overcomes the usual cliches and makes it a great little read. ****1/2 stars.

I'm looking forward to reading the future adventures of Neve and Egan.
