I only read up to page 24. That's how long I give a book to grab me and make me keep reading. There are too many books and too little time, so I want to read something enjoyable or edifying, or sexy or ... something. But not this.

The book was written in 1942, so the writing is stilted and old-fashioned. In fact, it reads like a novel from even earlier. But that wasn't a deterrent, I like classics. I think I picked this up at a yardsale. I like to read banned books and this is one. The blurb on the back puts this book in the illustrious company of Ulysses, Lady Chatterley's Lover, and The Genius. It also calls it "...one of the most daring books in the English language." That may be so, but I sure didn't see it.

After reading the first 24 pages, I skipped around trying to find a passage that might entice me to try and read more. It didn't work. This is for the discard pile.

So now onto another book from my box of erotica.

This book started out as a mystery but then wandered on to questions of morality, fidelity in marriage, late awakening to sensual pleasures and then at the end back to the mystery and solution of. It was not my cup of tea, but I skimmed throught the middle as I wanted to know the solution to the mystery.

If you enjoy a more psychological line of writing, this would be a book for you. It takes place in the 1940s in England.
