James Corden

A basic humour book based upon what is, in my opinion, the best of the British, twenty-first century comedies based upon an 'ordinary' family. The television series benefited from some excellent actors and even more from the writing of James Corden, who has received the recognition which he deserves, and Ruth Jones, who is not afforded anything like the attention that her talent deserves.

The book purports to be a family scrapbook and, like the curate's egg, is good in parts: well worth the 50 pence that was asked at a local car boot sale (I didn't even haggle!)… (mehr)

Let me first preface this review by stating I'm not a big of biographies in general. After first seeing, and enjoying, Corden in a couple of episodes of Doctor Who, and then seeing an interview of him on The Graham Norton Show advertising this book, I decided to buy it and give it a try.

I enjoyed the first half where he recounts his childhood, struggling to make friends and get noticed. Even his initial stories of success were interesting. But then I started to get bored with it all and finishing the book was a struggle. There were a couple of nice stories at the end, but by then I had lost interest and was merely finishing the book to finish it.… (mehr)
