I'd read a bit, put it aside, read a bit, put it aside. Meh. Finished. It was okay.

I read this book because I have a knowledge of and love for books about sailing, fiction or otherwise. What I didn't realize was that, even though there is a lot of sailing action in this book about a family out on a long South Pacific cruise when nuclear armageddon destroys the world as we know it, the target audience for this book is preppers. If you enjoy stockpiling emergency supplies, weapons of all types, have a military background, and believe in gearing up for the zombie apocolypse, this is the book for you. (Well, there aren't actually any zombies, to be fair.) Otherwise, please stay away. The writing is stiff, though the descriptions of the mechanics of sailing were accurate. Naturally, when the baddies do finally get the upper hand, they loose due to one or the other of the above friends. A quick, fast moving read if not the most realistic, good fun with a sober subject. Sequel in the works promises more of the same.… (mehr)

A quick read, I found it to be somewhat interesting but mostly implausible. Too many unrealistic situations. Fast moving, however the scenes are not very well developed. Hopefully the author will find his groove before the sequel.
