If the name Charles Hood was changed to James Bond, this would be the best Fleming pastiche since Colonel Sun. Hood works for the British government and a council of influential men called The Circle. In this adventure, he's assigned to track a pair of twins who have a unique esp rapport and access to supersecret info tha uses the esp. The trail leads to a mad monk and his minion, a hulking giant with a beak-like growth on his face. Construction machine battles, a tower where Hood is fed to vultures and a rousing chase make this an exciting espionage thriller from the days of the initial Bond craze.
