Corrie Crupi

Corrie Crupi of Pagoda-Skyline has written this book to highlight work the organization has done as well as a history of the Pagoda, a structure originally built as a hotel on the south end of Mount Penn in Reading, Pennsylvania. In addition to the Pagoda today, she covers the history of the "the Tower" and adjoining Summit Hotel (later called the Tower Hotel after the Tower burned in 1923) along with the Gravity Railroad that began in Mineral Spring Park and stopped at most of the resorts on the mountain at the time. There are numerous pictures to enhance the text.

As a child, I lived in East Reading on Mount Neversink and we could see the Pagoda from our front porch. The Fire Tower, with its seasonal decorations, and the Pagoda were landmarks for all to see. The resorts are no longer there; however, we can relieve those days on Mount Penn through this book.… (mehr)
