Polly Curren was born on October 2, 1917. After graduating high school, she attended the Russell School of Expression and Literature. She and her sister Josette opened the School of Expression for Children in their parents' home and taught children artistic expression and performance. In the late mehr anzeigen 1940s, her hearing started to deteriorate and she eventually became deaf. This is when she decided to become a writer. Her first book, The Little Red Caboose That Ran Away, was published in 1950. Her other works include Hear Ye of Boston, To Light a Torch, and The Fantastic Adventures of Wesley Riggs. She was also one of the ghost writers for the Trixie Belden series written under the pseudonym Kathryn Kenny. She died on November 7, 2011 at the age of 94. Polly Curren was born October 2, 1917 in Boston, Massachusetts. Her "ambition was to work with children--to teach them--to play with them--to entertain them." As a child, she attended the Russell School of Expression and Literature in Boston. Because of this experience, Curren opened the School of Expression for Children. She was the author of more than twenty-three books. Her first, The Little Red Caboose that Ran Away, was published in 1950. She married George S. Fedosiuk, a civil engineer, in 1941, and they had one son, Donald.

This book is appropriate for ages pre-k through kindergarten. It teaches children how to count to the number ten. It also teaches them all about Fire Fighters and Fire Houses.
