Pleasure, book one in the Pleasure Pain or Purpose series, introduces readers to three unique friends. Though very different, Biljana, Vicky and Jasmin share everything with one another, or almost everything. As they reflect on their changing lives we get a glimpse into each woman's individual story. Though their careers and relationships have taken different paths, Pleasure focuses on the different sexual experiences the women have had in their lives, with current and other partners. From vanilla sex to kinky BDSM sex, together they rely on one another for advice and support as they maneuver the confusing direction their lives have taken.

Pleasure was a very unique reading experience for me, as I had yet to read a novel that combined the elements of vanilla sex with kinkier sex, as well as included personal stories for each character. Al Daltrey wrote PPP1 out of the box, giving readers female characters they could relate to on a number of levels and providing a setting that women from all walks could read and enjoy. The women are relatable, not just due to their friendship and relationship with one another, but also from their heartbreaks, their sexuality, and their lump sum of experiences. I easily became invested in Jasmin's story, saw myself in Vickie, and had a bit of a love/hate problem with Billie. The character development that went into each woman was astounding and really made the changing POV enjoyable for me. I loved getting to know the women as separate individuals, as well as getting to experience their interactions together.

This is absolutely an emotional read though, with both the character's stories and how close to real life much of it resembled. I smiled when they smiled, grew angry when the girls grew angry, and absolutely shed tears when my heart hurt for the characters and a bit of myself. The smut was also very well written, in a way that allowed the readers to visualize it, but also understand what those sexual experiences meant for the character. It was so easy to get lost in the women's lives that when I finally came to the end I might have been a little mad at the cliffhanger.

Pleasure is a fantastic release from Al Daltrey and I recommend it to readers from all walks of life. If you are a fan of romance novels in general, especially with some delicious smut, this is for you. Though it does end on a cliffhanger, Pain, is available now.

I started this book at a major turning point in my life and had to put it down for a little while. A little while turned into a couple months, so I finally re-read it and I am happy to share this review with you now.

Immediately following PPP1, Pain picks up with the three friends held captive in Chile by a band of thugs. Though the event was harrowing the girls pick up their lives and seem to be better for it. Billie, though still mourning her loss, continues to take trips and finds that the spontaneous adventures have begun healing her. She also begins to welcome love and friendship back into her world, reconnecting with those she had previously shut out. Vicky, determined to make her marriage work, begins a new type of sexual relationship with Andrew, spicing up their married life. She can't seem to let go of her distrust and life is about to throw a major curve ball her way where dependency and trust is a must. Jasmin is torn between her adventurous, submissive side she shares with Diego and the intense attraction and emotions she has towards her boss, Gladstone. As the pressures of life, career, and the future bear down on her she has to make a decision.

Pain is a stunning follow up in the Pleasure, Pain, and Purpose series. The three women whose lives the reader follows are written in such a way that it is impossible not to find a connection with them in some way. Their lives, though occasionally exaggerated from what may be believable, are similar to the lives many women lead. They are driven women who are sexual, emotional, independent, and most of all loyal, fierce friends. Pain focuses around several turning points in each woman's life, specifically around pain. The pain for each woman is not the same however and that is what the novel's plot is based around.

I loved revisiting each women and was thrilled Pain picked up immediately from the events in Pleasure, I must admit I hate series that have time jumps. I found myself opening my arms up to Billie, previously having given her the cold shoulder. She evolved so much as a character and I really look forward to her closure in Purpose. Jasmin is...Jasmin. At times I adored her tenacious spirit and at other moments I shook my head. She's a bit over the top, but I know others who love that about her. Vicky and I felt like mirror images during reading, it was painful to see parts of my life in a character's life. At the same time, Vicky is the reason why I continued to read Pain despite how much it tugged at my emotions. For me, her story was the most closely related to reality and I will admit I am a bit desperate for the rest of her story in Purpose. Like Pleasure, the three women's stories are revealed through their separate POV's and rolled together when the friend's interact. I like this style of writing, because it allowed me to give each character individual attention, but also look at the events from another character's perspective. It is a unique way to write a novel and I think Al Daltrey is very successful in bringing the reader into the story and keeping them a captive audience.

While I really enjoyed Pain and found myself enjoying the characters even more than I originally did in Pleasure, the writing pace felt hurried at times. There are moments, particularly in Billie's POVs, that I wish more time and development had been given. Her character development was exactly what I wanted in a character, but I felt like I missed some turning moments that brought about her changes. She opened up as a character, but I couldn't really pinpoint the moments that the shift occurred.

I do want to mention that parts of this book won't necessarily be every reader's "thing." Al Daltrey has written three very unique character's and their lives each take different paths. I found that the scenes that weren't my "thing" didn't bother me as much as one first expects, but rather flowed with that individual character's story and just gave me an insight into a part of who that character really is. It is written in such a way that the scenes are not in your face, though detailed they are also not overly graphic. For this, I applaud him and hope other readers will pick it up despite the content.

Pain is an incredible addition to the PPP series and I am looking forward to the release of Purpose. Al Daltrey's characters, Billie, Jasmin, and Vicky, are stunning heroines dealing with realistic life drama that every reader will connect to in one way or another. With just Purpose left to release, I am anxiously waiting for the final chapter of these three friends and their stories.

*Goodreads and I had a bit of a disagreement about how to best save this review aka I had to start over from scratch, sorry!*

Purpose, the conclusion to the incredible Pleasure Pain or Purpose series, follows the three best friends first introduced to us in Pleasure as they continue facing life's hurdles. We have seen the girls go through the loss of those closest to them, take grand adventures, experiment with their sexual preferences, and find just who they truly are, never losing sight of the friendship that ties them together.

Pleasure Pain or Purpose has been a unique reading experience from the very start; Biljana, Jasmin, and Vicky's stories are told independently, but intertwine together when the girls spend time together. The bonds of their friendship are strong, built up over years of time and experience. The hardships they face are not unlike those we face in our daily lives, at some point we have lost someone, we have experienced a friend or ourselves going through a debilitating illness, and love has taken our sanity. Jasmin's story line had me laughing constantly and while some of the believability was a bit sketchy, I enjoyed her quirky desperation for romance. Vicky, oh how my heart ached for her. In some ways she is like the mother of the group, though facing trials in her marriage she continued to be so grounded, but her battle with cancer was so hard to watch. I have always liked all three girls, but my emotional connection with Billie was on unsteady ground until Purpose. I was so impressed with her character development and her strength as she finally looked at the world moving on after the death of her husband. As the series comes to an end each character has the closure they deserve and, without giving anything away, I was totally happy with how it all worked out.

I try not to pick favorites in a series, but Purpose is hands down my favorite of Al Daltrey's. I really loved how everything circled back for the women and the amount of time spent with each other as they really faced hurdles together as a team. This story of three best friends has stuck with me, their lives are unforgettable and emotional, and shared with the readers so brilliantly in Al Daltrey's unique prose.

Loved this book with the alternating views. Al certainly takes things to the limits and it's hot as always. I loved Jack and Chloe and hope we hear more from them again one day. Once I started I found it very hard to put down as I had to see what happened next.
