Hinweis zur Begriffsklärung:

(eng) Massaccesi was reluctant to use his real name early in his directing career, since he was still known mainly as a director of photography and didn't want his directing jobs to jeopardize his cinematography career. He used his real name for screenplay and cinematography roles, but worked under many aliases to disguise the authorship of some films in order not to mix up the different genres of comedy, western, drama, thrillers and others. He used so many phony names that he may well have more pseudonyms credited to him than any other director in the world.

A group of American POW's escape from a vile Nazi prison camp in Germany during World War II. They escape into the countryside, pursued by a squadron of Nazi soldiers assigned to recapture them. The Americans join forces with a group of French freedom fighters, and agree to help them kidnap the high-level German general Kaufmann from his chateau. Using German uniforms captured in combat, the men succeed in capturing the general, but when he puts up a fight they are forced to tranquilize him and physically carry him out of the building. The Nazi platoon catches up with them and a firefight ensues, killing almost everyone on both sides. The last surviving Americans succeed in escaping with their unconscious prisoner. A nonsense plot by Rossella Drudi sees writer Sarah Asproon (Kristine Rose) called in by the executor of the will of Lionel Durrington, the richest mam in Louisiana, to identify who amongst his heirs may be worthy of inheriting the fortune. The potential heirs are, of course, degenerates of various hues. Unfortunately the script is confused and nonsensical which results in director Joe D'Amato (Aristide Massaccesi) attempting to keep things nice and simple but instead he helps make the whole thing even more ludicrous. That may have been circumnavigated with talented and sympathetic leads but the main player Kristine Rose is determinedly wooden throughout. The heirs are appropriately creepy but none of them have the ability or charisma to sell their roles. There is plenty of nice lingerie on display and bored-looking simulated sex breaks out every so often but even that is ditch water dull. There is a nice plot twist at the end that brings a wee spark but overall this is a pretty lacklustre and pedestrian affair.… (mehr)

With the Italian horror scene in the doldrums Joe D'Amato took a left turn into softcore with "Eleven Days, Eleven Nights" (11 Giorni, 11 Notti), which became a decent sized hit in the Italian market. The plot sees Joshua (Michael Terenzi) whose marriage to Helen (Mary Sellers) is happening in eleven days. Unfortunately he bumps into the sexily aggressive Sarah (Jessica Moore aka Luciana Ottaviani) and they set out on a dangerous affair. Joshua begins to think twice about his impending marriage. It soon emerges, however, that Joshua is Sarah's one hundredth lover and that she's writing a book about her conquests. Overall the storyline of "11 Giorni, 11 Notti" is fairly simplistic and abounds with stereotypes with the majority of the film concentrating on the relationships between the three leads. The sex sequences are short and rather tame making this less a sex film and more a superficial character drama. The cinematography by D'Amato is good; nice, bright and fresh. Jessica Moore is good fun as the uninhibited Sarah and does well against the rather wooden Michael Terenzi. Lovers of tacky, cheesy film music and over-the-top eighties power pop ballads will also find much to enjoy here.… (mehr)
