Going for Broke is a story of two high school classmates who are each talented in their own way & the different paths they take. Chase took the risky way & headed off to Hollywood to be a star. Mia took the safe way, went to college & is the drama teacher at their old high school. Mia crushed on Chase in high school & the feelings are still there. Does Chase feel the same? Why is he back in Sapphire Falls? Is Mia truly happy in her job?
For a novella, Kate did a wonderful job of setting the scene. The characters were life like & inspired emotions in the reader. Chase came across as an arrogant jerk at the beginning but you were able to put yourself in his shoes. A high school actor that everyone in the small town thought would conquer the world. How did real life treat him? Mia took the safe route. Did she have regrets?was it the better path? The dynamic between them changed as you read through the story. Loved it!… (mehr)
