Long ago, a group of vampires went down with Atlantis in order to guard the monsters that Atlantis keeps imprisoned.  To help the vampires sustain themselves, previous leaders have enslaved the human Descendants of Atlantis to feed them.  Current leader, Ian believes differently.  When Ian gets word that one of his prisoners, Norgis, has escaped to Miami, he takes action and returns to the surface to hunt Norgis down.  Ian picks up Norgis' scent immediately along with the scent of his brother.  Ian also detects an irresistible scent of a woman, Katherine, that Norgis has targeted for an artifact that she has.  Now, Ian is trying to protect Katherine, track down Norgis and stop his brother's plot to rule Atlantis.   Vampires of Atlantis is a fast paced paranormal romance. The story dives right into the action with Norgis escaping.  I felt a little lost or like I had missed something for the first half of the book with no knowledge of how Atlantis worked, why anyone was down there and why it was so important to find the monster and Ian's brother.  Regardless, the story is action packed and fun as Ian and his team track Norgis, come into contact with other dangerous groups and try to protect Katherine while she finds out the truth about herself.  Ian and Katherine have an insta love romance aided by vampire blood and a few steamy scenes.  I had a hard time with Katherine's character as she seems to blindly follow Ian and doesn't seem to have anything attaching her to her life.  Katherine does redeem herself a bit when she realizes several times that she might be being held prisoner and fights back. Once the team returned to Atlantis, missing pieces started to fill in and I enjoyed learning about how and why the vampires lived at the bottom of the ocean.  The ending was exciting and amped up the danger.  Overall, an exciting and enjoyable vampire read.  This book was received for free in return for an honest review. … (mehr)

Fawn Malero, Supernatural P.I. and magician, is back with her crew, an assembly of magicians, werewolves, vampires, witches and warlocks, elves, and sea creatures, with the power to shift into human form. This time, her city is being over run with a plague of rabbits. Rabbits are appearing everywhere! As soon as Fawn tries to get rid of some, more appear to take their place. An important vampire is getting married to Fawn's rival for Logan and it is crucial to rid the city of the rabbits and their mess before the wedding party arrives. In addition to this, the weather has become crazy, one minute heatwaves, the next snow storms! Ruling out humans as the cause, Fawn must discover how the supernatural is involved. Could it be the doing of the rogue magician, who was caught selling magic items illegally and is now in "jail" in Fawn's father's home, or is a secretive mysterious stranger involved?
This is the second Fawn Malero book that I have read and it won't be the last. Courtney Davis has a talent for bringing to life an appealing cast of unusual characters and giving them human qualities. The reader becomes involved in their love lives and personal problems. Will Fawn and her werewolf lover, Logan, marry? Will her pregnant friend, Jasmine be finally rid of her abusive husband, Maddox, and find happiness with another? I also love the characters rock star fashion sense, all their outrageous outfits.
In between the series of adventures which lead up to an exciting conclusion in a supernatural battle of powers, Fawn's character grows through solving problems of others. She proves that her parents can be as proud of her as they are with her brothers in protecting their city. And just maybe she can be a definite asset to Logan in his role as alpha leader of his werewolf pack.
When you need some light reading to cheer you up and take you away, this definitely fits the bill!

I received an early review copy of the book.

Vampires of Atlantis caught my eye because I had never seen the two paired. Miss Davis does give us a picture of Vampires in Atlantis, so it's not just a gimmicky title.

Main and secondary characters are sufficiently developed. There us one - the best friend - I hope gets more in the 2nd book.

Speaking of the 2nd book Davis set the stage nicely. Enough with a new group (werewolves, of course) so the reader anticipates reading the next story.… (mehr)
