Lie A Little: A heart-warming Victorian family saga… von Debra Delaney

It seemed very simple at first, but quickly the character's complexity and struggles are revealed. I would definitely be interested to see how the rest of The Faredene Trilogy plays out.

The protagonist is Victoria Kavanagh.The thread running through the story is the struggle against marital violence and inequality. It gives a good glimpse of life in a small English town in Victorian times. the position of the woman, the development of a haberdashery business, a cotton mill... the lives of the wealthy and that of the workers and domestic servants.
Fine character drawing, no high-quality literature, but well-written and good storytelling pace.
I was able to read this story thanks to Early Reviewers and look forward to part two of this trilogy with great anticipation.… (mehr)
