Summary: This book relays the true story of Major Brian Dennis and his interaction with his furry friend, Nubs, in Iraq. Major Dennis met Nubs at a post but couldn't take him to base due to a military rule, however time and time again Nubs would chase Major Dennis as he and his squad would leave to go back to base. One day Nubs ended up traveling 70 miles just to find Major Dennis. After this, Major Dennis worked to get Nubs sent to the U.S. so he could look after him. Fortunately this was successful and today the two live happily in San Diego.
Review: This book is an excellent non-fiction book for elementary students because there are many pictures of Nubs and Major Dennis while in Iraq and California. The information is portrayed in a informal way, so it is easy to grasp and new words such as Humvee can become jargon vocab words. The story is easy to read and listen to, and with the right questions can be very engaging.… (mehr)
