I really enjoyed this novel! It was more of an adventure than a romance which was great. The author makes the setting come alive and you feel like you are right there on board the ship experiencing everything the characters do.
This book was better at setting up the plot than it was at resolving it. It seemed quite interesting at first, but lost my interest about halfway through and never got it back. The first sex scene (both sex scenes, actually) were rather cold and unemotional, and the climax of the book itself was a bit of a let down. Not badly written, I've certainly read worse, but just not that good, either.

Linnet Osborne takes a job as a governess in order to make ends meet but is shocked when she discovers that her new employer is Christian, Lord Blakley with whom she had a passionate embrace that almost had her in a situation where she would have to marry him but she's determined to marry for love not for any other reason but he seems determined that love is an illusion. At the same time she thinks that the child she's teaching is his while actually it's his father's, which causes a mountain of misunderstanding which a solid conversation could have avoided.
Overall it's not a bad read, though some of the events feel a little forced.… (mehr)
