Grayson Hawkes is the man in charge of Disney World…all of it. He, of course, has people he delegates work, but he is a hands-on CCA (chief creative architect). He lives in an apartment on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom and tries to take daily walks throughout the grounds of the various theme parks. He is preparing for a visit from the President of the United States, his wife and his young daughter. The President is expected to make a big announcement, so the media has gathered from everywhere. Hawk is friends with the President and was even offered a job in his administration, which Hawk declined. Hawk’s head of security, Jillian Batteson, a former Homeland Security agent, has complied with all the President’s Secret Service intricate guidelines for the visit.
The President and his family arrive and meet with Hawk briefly before leaving for the monorail station that will take them to EPCOT where the President will speak. They board the monorail as scheduled at the Contemporary Resort, but when the monorail pulls into the station to transfer them to the monorail that will take them to EPCOT, the monorail has only the driver on board! Where is the President and his family? There is no where for them to stop and disembark! Hawk quickly discovers clues related to Disney that may lead to discovering the first family. Who has kidnapped them? How were they kidnapped? What is the purpose behind the kidnapping? As Hawk deciphers clues, he begins to uncover more than a kidnapping. He discovers something that could threaten the whole country.
Jeff Dixon has written another excellent thrill-filled, suspense-laden, action-packed novel that I couldn’t put down! I have read his Dixon on Disney series, which is excellent, so I was excited to come across this novel. Dixon’s extensive knowledge of Walt Disney, his family and his theme parks is impressive. The character of Grayson Hawkes is just so likeable! He is humble, smart, intuitive and has a strong faith in God. I loved the back story of John Wilkes Booth and the link to the present! For those who like Disney related items, this is sure to please. For those not familiar with Disney, there is plenty to hold your interest in this mystery. I sure hope this author writes more mystery stories for Hawk to solve as I’m addicted!
