Ronald Dodds

I cannot imagine the hours of research that Dodds did before writing this history of Canadian fliers in World War 1 and the skirmishes in the Soviet Union right after the War. He has gathered 100's of detailed accounts of flights by these men and he has not only included the accomplishments of the famous such as Collishaw, Bishop, Brown and Barker, but also of the other men who are not well known but who flew equally important missions such as bombing runs into Germany or hunting submarines over the North Sea in antiquated aircraft or chasing Zeppelins high over England. The research is so detailed that Dodds is able to tell us when, where & why each man joined the service and how he made the switch from fighting in the trenches to fighting over them. He attaches lists of all pilots and their scores of planes shot done in excess of five. All honour and award winners are listed as well a complete list of all fliers killed in action and the date of their death.… (mehr)
