In this board book we join a toddler as he explores different kinds of kisses and demonstrates each type of kiss with cute and cuddly animals. The muted colors and soft lines of this poetic story help to convey a sense of calm that can help prepare any toddler for bed. However, this calming effect might be due to the fact that the plot is limited; for instance, it does not include any of the elements that create suspense or pose a question. I think that even a young reader could lose interest in the book. That being said, the musical language that carries throughout the story may help keep the interest of a very young reader. The whimsy of the animals all gathering in his back yard to share kisses may also be a draw to the very young animal lover. Overall, I found this book to be limited and lacked imagination; nevertheless, the theme of the kisses helps to make this gentle and endearing book.… (mehr)
