Liza Wilcox, kindergarten teacher, is out for the summer. She has plans to visit her Sheriff boyfriend Tom, when her computer starts acting up again, it is showing the date as Dec 20th instead of June 15th. The last time her computer showed the wrong date she got involved with clowns and kidnapped children. So, she begins a web search to find out the significance of the date, Dec 20th Danielle Slammers was murdered, stabbed twice, in her motel room. The only article Liza could find said that the police suspected a vagrant had killed her for her money. Liza decides to go to the Oregon town where Danielle was murdered to find out who murdered her and why.

A cozy mystery with a likeable sleuth in Liza Wilcox, she is accident-prone, but attracts friends as well as enemies. Fun, relaxing read.… (mehr)

Cozy mysteries have been "gentle" mysteries where violence is low-key, profanity and adult situations are behind closed doors. And, they almost always are a series because we like the characters and want to read more of them. Because of the growth of the cozy mystery readers and the series factor more authors are entering the field. Their publishers are encouraging them to bring more adult situations, violence and profanity to the forefront because they think this is what the reader wants. Which I frequently consider to be "padding" to create a longer (by number of pages) story that the reader will pay more for. So be aware that the label "cozy mystery" is going through some changes.

Here is new cozy mystery I have just read "Death is Clowning Around" by Peggy Dulle.,I can't point to any specific laugh-out-loud moments. But it was an interesting story and held my attention to the end. There were a few grammar errors, once again caused more by the use of a spell checker rather than an editor; but nothing to complain about.… (mehr)
