- Wayne Dundee grew up and spent the first fifty-plus years of his life around the state line area of northern Illinois/southern Wisconsin. He was always an avid reader and decided at an early age that one day he wanted to be a writer himself. Mickey Spillane's Mike Hammer influenced the primary direction his own writing would eventually take -- hardboiled detective mysteries. Dundee sold his first short story, featuring Rockford, Illinois-based PI Joe Hannibal, in 1982. Since then there have been, to date, over twenty Hannibal short stories, three novellas, and six Hannibal novels. He has also penned a handful of short stories in other genres and soon will have a Western novel ublished. Dundee's work has been published in several languages and has received nominations for an Edgar, an Anthony, and six Shamus awards. He is also the founder and original editor of Hardboiled Magazine. In 1998, Dundee moved from Illinois to west central Nebraska. In the 2007 novel THE DAY AFTER YESTERDAY Joe Hannibal followed suit. Dundee recently retired as general manager for a small manufacturing facility and is now devoting full time to writing. Subsequent to the passing of his beloved wife Pam, Dundee shares a home in Ogallala, Nebraska, with his daughter and three grandchildren. He is working on further Joe Hannibal adventures as well as other projects. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IttXgx...

Things probably would have violently escalated right then and there if not for the timely intercession of Bounty Hunter Bodice Kendrick. Seven years for a manslaughter conviction there are many folks that want Mr. Avery dead as soon as possible. In a twist from his normal paying work as a bounty hunter, Bodie Kendrick has been hired to keep Mr. Avery alive and get him to another town in the area where he has some friends waiting for him.
Easier said than done. Blue Tom Iverson and his men are not going to let that happen easily. And they may not be the only folks in the harsh desert country looking to get Avery and anyone with him one way or another.
Wanted: Dead is the latest in a rich and highly entertaining western series that began with Hard Trail to Socorro. Wayne D. Dundee has created a complex western series where each tales has elements of a mystery at work that also serves to push the tale forward. This read, like the others, features complex characters doing what they must to survive while at the same time plenty of action keeps things moving at a rapid rate. Wanted: Dead, like the rest of the series that is best when read in order, is a mighty good read and strongly recommended.
