This book has been on my to-read list for years. I'm not that interested in military technology, but it has been in my to-read list because of the publisher: AMACOM. I have found their books to be of excellent quality. Thus, when I had a chance to acquire this book, I got it, and it has been waiting to be read ever since.
The preface immediately got my interest. Instead of being about the technology, it is a brief family history of his family. The writing style got my interest up well before I finished reading one page. I was so fascinated that I passed it to my wife so she could read the preface.
The last part of chapter 7: Ruminations and Ramifications gave a comparison of the development process in the US compared with other countries and suggested that is is why so much new technology comes from the US.
This book concentrates on emerging technologies as of 2005. Being published almost ten years ago, some of what was emerging back then has matured. A nice book, even though a bit dated.… (mehr)
