Waiting for Prince Harry is a fun and cheery PG13 romantic comedy in book form. For a romance novel, it is very tame and clean which, for the most part, I enjoyed. There was one huge opportunity involving a penalty box that I would have enjoyed seeing Aven Ellis capitalize on, but overall, an enjoyable read.

Kylie is a fairly competent protagonist and falls into the trap of saying stupid things when speaking to a very attractive man that all young women do which was a refreshing breath of fresh air in the romance department. For the most part, though, Kylie is quite a push over – she lets her boss take advantage of her and holds off on following her own dreams, always waiting for the ambiguous future. I have the habit of letting the same mentality consume me, always hoping that things will get better without me having to actually do anything to make them so. However, when Kylie finally stands up for herself and her relationship, it’s an incredible moment. She becomes the eloquent and passionate protagonist I hoped she’d be.

While I did enjoy the literary palate cleanser that is Waiting for Prince Harry, I would have liked to have seen a great deal of evidence for why, after only one week, Kylie is convinced she’s going to spend the rest of her life with her Prince Harry. Many of the elements of the romance, in this sense, felt wildly unrealistic. I think I’m just too much of a cynic to throw myself fully into the idealistic soul mate romance.

I already pre-ordered this but jumped at the chance for an ARC. I really enjoyed Connectivity and looked forward to seeing what else Aven had in store. This did not disappoint! If possible, I loved Lauren and Oliver more than Mary-Kate and William. And there was a (sort of) cameo of another fan favorite from the Modern Royals series.

As an aside, I love that all of her books seem to take placed in a shared universe (the Aven-verse?).

Aven Ellis talleys a win with ON THIN ICE, the fourth book in the Dallas Demons series. Aspiring author, Holly Johansson, has had a crush on her brother’s teammate, Matt Rhinelander, since she met him years ago. She is convinced that he is her complete opposite and not interested in her, until he rescues her at a party. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for new adult and adult audiences.

I loved Aven Ellis’ ON THIN ICE. I could not put this book down.
Holly is a sweet character. She recently graduated from Northwestern University and needs to find a job to support herself while allowing her time to fulfill her dream to become a fantasy writer. She is from Minnestota but currently staying with her brother, Nate, in Dallas. She has a secret that she has kept from everyone but confides in Matt. Matt is a good guy, However, has gotten himself in some trouble by partying too much and is in risk of being traded. He has his own issues and secrets that he discloses to Holly. My heart went out to Matt and what he went through. The two develop a relationship but keep it hidden to avoid a conflict with Holly’s brother. The couple have many obstacles and challenges they face throughout the story.

The plot had a lot of depth and was interesting. ON THIN ICE is a believable and heartfelt story. I enjoyed Holly’s Game Plan list. I love how Matt adds to her lists. I also, appreciated how Holly’s novel correlated to her life; although I admit, I found her story a bit chessy. I love the lunches with CiCi. That woman is a force to be reckoned with. Holly’s sock collection and Matt’s reaction to it were amusing. I like that Holly and Reese Brannon befriended each other. I would love to hear her story with JP Rochat. I thought Matt’s nickname for Holly was sweet. ON THIN ICE had a great ending.

I enjoy Aven Ellis’ writing style. Her work is distinctive and fun. I love her Chicago on Ice series. This is actually the first book in the Dallas Demons series that I have read. I will definitely continue to follow this series, and I want to back track and read the previous books, especially THE DIFINITION OF ICING, Nate’s and Kenley’s story. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

Aven Ellis scored her second win with book two in the Chicago on Ice Series, Trivial Pursuits. Livy Adams has gone down the path of dating a cheating athlete before. The last thing she should do is become involved with Chicago Buffaloes defenseman and ladies’ man, Landon Holder. She soon discovers that there is more to Landon then meets the eye. This contemporary sports romance is suitable for new adult and adult audiences.

Aven Ellis does a fabulous job with her character development. I really like Livy. She is sweet and enterprising. She is obsessed with playing TriviaPlayOrPass. She is a talented jewelry designer who is pursuing her dream of launching her own jewelry line. She was hurt in college by her cheating boyfriend, and the experience made her untrusting in relationships. Landon is great. He had a tough childhood. He is great with his fans. He is good with kids. He is funny, smart, and a talented athlete. I love his selfie addiction. He is really creative with their activities. He has a lot of layers that people are unaware of. I love Nana. She’s the coolest grandma ever. She had me laughing. I love that Aubrey and Beckett from book one are in this story a lot.

I enjoyed the plot and writing style. There is fate involved. The story is believable and convincing. I like how the chapters starts with trivia questions that are somehow related to the chapter. I enjoyed Livy’s and Landon’s virtual dates when Landon is on the road. It was hilarious when Livy’s family barged in on their video chat date. I love Landon’s cat, Gigi. The debacle with the sushi was hilarious. I love the DEFCON levels. Their nicknames for each other are entertaining. The hockey scenes were well written. The ending was perfect. Honesty, I cannot think of anything I didn’t like. Well, I take that back, I didn’t like Kayla, but she helped made the story interesting. This is a great book for anyone who enjoys contemporary sports romances. If you have not read book one, The Aubrey Rules, I recommend reading it first. Both Livy and Landon make appearances in that story. I really love this series. It has a unique style that makes it captivating. I cannot wait for the next book.
