I didn't like this book as much as the first book, The Dollhouse, probably because there was no mind-blowing twist like in the first one, but it was still a great read, and really packed with action!

During the first half of the book, I found the CB and Angel chapters kind of slow. The few Harper chapters sprinkled in-between were terrifying, brutal, and cringeworthy. So much darker than The Dollhouse, holy! The second half of the book was all action and suspense, I didn't want to put it down!

The sporadic Spanish words irked me, because I don't speak Spanish and I had to look up what a few things meant, but otherwise this was a great read and I can't wait for the next book in the series!… (mehr)

If you're looking for a dark thriller with a satisfying ending, Sara Ennis never disappoints! *chef's kiss*

This is a standalone novel, although there are some characters and some mentions of characters from the Duality/Dollhouse trilogy. (If it was a TV series I would say it's a "spin-off" from the original trilogy, but I'm not sure how that translates into books.)

I'm not in love with the cover, and for awhile I couldn't decide why - I think it's the hand. If the hand wasn't there I think it would be better. Also I was left with one tiny unanswered question, but in the spirit of being vague to avoid spoilers, the only thing I'll say is "Where did they all go afterwards?"

Pros: What a dark and tense book! This story goes to some messed-up places. It kept me at the edge of my seat the whole time.
Cons: Even though the tension was there throughout the book it did seem to be slow in places. There was a lot of action but I felt I was missing a connection with the characters or lacked the feelings or emotions of the characters a bit.
This was a great plot (WOW) and would be a great read for someone that likes a more plot-driven than character-driven storylines.… (mehr)
