EJ is an artist whom studies Art History. Foster is a chemical engineer. They couldn’t be more different and more similar at the same time.
EJ is a 360° an artist: she sees the world through her humanity filter.
Foster, on the contrary, is pure rationality: he has and answer for everything, an scientific explanation for (almost) all.
Every time our two main characters met each other, reason and instinct, science and faith mix themselves in the air. They start a sort of dance that seems magic in the way they Foster and EJ get in touch with each other, in the way they deal one another, in the way while we read we see before them they’re true feelings.
They both are iconic characters. If I think about EJ I see a girl with messy hair, stained paint fingers and big eyes. Foster is… well, have you ever read a manga? Do you know the cool character that wear eyeglasses, always serious? Here he is.
Both them have a huge personal growth into the book and the thing I liked the most is that even if they are the main characters their life isn’t easy. They work very hard to reach their goals and there is always a price to be paid.
The author is very able to deeply characterize emotionally, psychologically and how to behave her characters to the point that the reader feels them real, tangible and so charismatic that you want to be with them forever.
All the book is full of funny repartee and it is unavoidable to smile and laugh out loud, but I have to admit that I had some difficulties in reading because this isn’t the scholastic English I am used to, but eventually I managed to get to the end.
