The Book of Samuel von Erik Raschke
A young boy goes through life being challenged by parental disputes (divorce), racial tensions, puberty, abandonment, and religion. The dad becomes super obsessive with God and abandons Samuel and his mom. Samuel and his two friends battle Mexicans. Slow build-up. Some humorous parts. Very child-like ways of describing things. The last 2-3 pages make the book a 3 star into a 4 star.
