This is a light, easy-to-read history of Scotland. Four stars for the history, three stars for the "jokes", which are groan-inducing one-liners. Having lived in Scotland for a year and a half and giving half an eyeball every now and again to the local press, I could follow the modern politics without my eyes glazing over. However, for someone who knew nothing about British or Scottish government, it might be a struggle. Recommended for those who want a quick, light introduction to Scotland and Scottishness, as seen from the inside.… (mehr)
