This was a free kindle offer and I read to 27%. Seemed to take ages to get that far and the thought of spending so much more time listening to six 30-somethings' ankst about children and cheating husbands was more than I could do. None of the characters appealed enough to find out what happened to them. The only one I could see clearly was Grace, the model. I didn't consider the writing that wonderful either - made me think of a preppy teenager bouncing around from one thought to another, none of them fully developed.
For example, Lily's husband Dirk refuses to allow her to go to Capri for the fashion shoot, despite it involving their design business and he having said yes previously. No reason given for the refusal. This fuels a lot of discussion as without the shoot the holiday on Capri won't happen for anyone. One day the six families are socialising and one of the women goes out to the bbq where the men are and says someone has to dance with her, scene ends and suddenly there is no longer a problem with Dirks' permission. Really?
Once on Capri, Cat starts acting up, and some of the girls want to party, others to chill out. Makes me wonder how they've remained friends for twelve years. Other writers have done this idea much better. Can't recommend.… (mehr)
