Gee. It'd be hard for me to describe the nuggets I liked most in this story without giving away all the good stuff. It's a little pet peeve of mine when book blurbs and such basically spell out the moral of a short story because there isn't a whole lot of material to pull the descriptions from.

But I'll say that I appreciate the correlations the three mothers find in their situations to that of Mary, the mother of Jesus. Whether or not you're a parent, the overall principles Holly and her friends share with each other are encouraging and universal principles for life.

Besides that, this quick read really put me in the mood for a warm mug of Christmassy cocoa or another such treat.… (mehr)

Once Upon a Wish blends wistful fantasy with meaningful reality and comes out aces. Delphine's dream has always been to be a celebrated writer and after a bit of success she should be ecstatic. When writer's block rears it's ugly head, fear kicks in. Her greatest supported is drifting away and her heart may be losing the spark for it all. How can she back to the place it all began? Desperation leads her to a fountain of wishes. One act of whimsy, a magic coin and a heartfelt wish ends up being the best decision she ever made. On the road to finding herself, she ends up gaining more than she bargained for. As a reader when you feel as deep of a connection to the characters and book as I did, you know the author must have gotten it right.… (mehr)

Sweet Confections lived up to it’s title as the story was sugary enough to give anyone a cavity. Rachel and Graydon were goody two shoes who had some cliché story book moments and unfortunately, came off as one dimensional for most of the story. The secondary characters were great companions and flushed out wonderfully to add more dimension to the story and I often found myself more interested in them.
Sweet Confections will work for individuals looking for a squeaky clean romance with mild suspense and action.
