A wonderful book about colors and sports. A combination of professional sports and kids playing sports to show colors in sports activities. Ten sports are highlighted in a spread. One or two colors are discussed on a page. Basketball uses an orange ball because it “is easy for players to see”. Two girls are shown playing. Next to it a picture of a Los Angeles Laker player in a purple jersey with yellow letters because it stands out. Besides the popular American sports cheerleading, gymnastics, volleyball and figure skating are also part of the ten sports discussed. The photography is using women, men, girls and boys and people of color to give a nice balance of society in sports.
One of the last spreads of the book does invite the reader to color using crayola crayons.
There is a glossary with a couple of words and a page to learn more about sports. Although the books suggested are pointing more to crayola color books than books about sports. The websites are less promotional. There is a table of contents to start the book and an index to complete it.
