Gabriel Fitzmaurice is from Moyvane, County Kerry. In 2007 he retired as school principal from the local primary school where he taught for more than thirty years. He has written more than fifty books, including poetry collections in English and Irish as well as several collections of verse for mehr anzeigen children. He has translated extensively from Irish and has edited a number of poetry anthologies. He has published two volumes of essays and collections of songs and ballads. His poems have been set to music and recorded by Brian Kennedy and by Cr na ng with the RT National Symphony Orchestra.
