Greg Fitzsimmons

As someone who has spent some time 'behind the scenes' blogging about a comedy scene, I found this book quite entertaining. In addition to showing interesting sides of the comedy entertainment world, this book also provides some thoughtful observations about all sorts of other things- alcoholism, child abuse, race relations, classism, and all sorts of other topics. He tells his parents' stories as teenage Irish immigrants in the US, and then his own story, including how he managed to find himself doing comedy professionally. I might have to check out some of this guy's comedy now. (My brother gave me the book, so I didn't know much about it till I read it, and didn't know anything about Mr. Fitzsimmons before reading his book.)… (mehr)
