Every one that has had experience with a drum....and its noise....you can relate to Pokko's parents. They have discovered that Pokko's music is much too loud. But as a result, Pokko is sent outside and she discovers her whole new world, her skillset, etc.

My favorite picture book of the month, maybe the year! What a delight! I can see myself in Mina (always with a book in hand). I loved the "squirrels" and the stick insects! Fabulous illustration and an exquisite ending! Highly recommend!

Bookish mouse Mina lives with her father - but really she lives in her own world, "where nothing ever bothers her." Until her father brings home a "squirrel" that Mina - and readers - immediately identify as a cat. Everything is surprisingly OK, for a while, but when the "squirrel" stops eating, Mina's dad calls the doctor, who identifies the same problem as Mina. A dramatic chase ends in a surprising rescue, and as Mina's dad declared all along, everything is fine in the end.

Excellent endpapers, and subtly different jacket/boards. Caldecott??
