Nella Berlino del 1931, Sally Bowles canta in un cabaret e arrotonda il suo stipendio intrattenendo facoltosi signori, è innamorata di Brian, un intellettuale britannico, che però non può darle la sicurezza che lei, vivendo alla giornata, talvolta desidera.
