Jeanette Foster is the author of more than 60 travel books on the Hawaiian Islands and is a resident of the Big Island of Hawai'i. She was assisted by the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park staff to obtain the archival images in the book.

Frommer's Maui 2013 (Frommer's Color Complete) von Jeanette Foster
Although I could have got by with just my Waze app, Trip Advisor and a few others-- it was still comforting to have my printed Frommers along for the ride. I referenced it a number of times to verify a few things and at one point needed to use the included map when Waze failed me.
I have been to Maui a couple of times and plan to go again soon. This books offers a few good tips, though a few too many coffee shops. For me the organization made it difficult to keep track of things, though it may work better for a first time visitor. A cautionary note: page 20 talks about driving to Kahakuloa (12 miles) then on to Lahaina (21 miles). Think truly one lane road with blind switchbacks, gravel/dirt surface. Think not hours, not minutes. It took us 3+ hours of driving. It makes the road to Hana seem like a four lane freeway!… (mehr)
