This is a pretty good book to read to children who are learning to count. It is a nursery rhyme too, so it is easy and fun for young kids to sing the song that goes with it. I remember listening to story times of this book, so I have good memories about it.
Very animated and fun, one of our children's favorite counting rhymes. For some reason, the idea of the doctor getting more and more frustrated by the monkeys sent my children into hysterics.
“Ten little monkey jumping on the bed, one fell off and bumped his head. Mother called the doctor and the doctor said, ‘No more monkeys jumping on the bed!’”
The well-known children's nursery rhyme uses repetition to help young readers learn sequence and numbers as they count the monkeys who fall off the bed. This oversized book, the Child’s Play version, has die-cut circles that encourage the child to interact with the brightly-colored illustrations as well as with the words.
Young readers are sure to enjoy singing the song and seeing how the mother and the doctor react as another monkey falls off the bed.
