I had a lot of fun reading this, although it went by very quickly. It’s very worthy of the space opera name.

I should start by saying that I started with this book (the third in the series) instead of reading the first book. However, the author did a good job in that respect. I didn't feel totally lost and I was able to pick up on everything fairly well.
All I can really say for the rest of the book is that it was okay. It wasn't terrible, it wasn't awesome. I don't know if I'll read the rest of the series, but it provided a distraction for a couple of hours and I wasn't bored. Perhaps not the most thrilling endorsement, but that's all I can really say.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the LibraryThing Member Giveaway.

Episode 1 ended with Kessla fighting off an attack of multiple xyce’s, a very rare species of monster. Naturally, I was expecting Episode 2 to begin where we left off. Lesson 1 – never assume you know what’s on the author’s mind.

This episode focuses on the deadly virus infecting random weavegloves. What type of person spends the time necessary to create such lethal chaos? What is the purpose? How far-reaching is the infection? Does it spread on its own? Many questions are answered as the story plays out. The reason for the outbreak was a complete shock to me. My mind had already closed and filed that case away. It was done. Apparently not…

While all hell is breaking loose on the THP (The Planned Happenstance), our friend Terrence was flitting about initiating plans and solidifying his future. We also get our first personal introduction of Revi, the newly announced Advocate. All I can say is, Terrence is ensuring he always has the upper hand. Lesson 2 – always beware of the psychotic mastermind.

Omniorb is the first of 12 Episodes. We are introduced to conflicting ideologies, alien discoveries, and abnormal abilities. Conflict is nothing new, but the weaponry is. Imagine loading an illegally obtained Sarcasm orb into a rifle made from scraps after receiving a dose of Treat. Coveting technology isn’t new either, but unless you’re a member of the Consortium, many high-level discoveries are not easily obtained. In fact, gaining access to the Weave is illegal to those who are not part of the Consortium. Then the abnormal abilities? We’re walking around a universe filled with aliens. Of course, they are all going to be different… but Bandonn and Durso seem particularly special.

I loved this story. After learning so much, we are left wondering how different things could have been if Rolorzak had been stricter with his son. And why did Kessla’s shuttle get attacked by multiple xyce when they are supposed to be rare?
