Ron Fridell

Life Cycle of A Pumpkin by Ron Fridell and Patricia Walsh is a book about how pumpkins grow. It also talks about the different types of pumpkins and that they are a fruit. It starts at the beginning with the seed, grows into a flower, then the pumpkin starts to grow, and when big enough is picked by the farmer. It can go to a store to be made into Jack-o-lantern, carved for Halloween, made into pies, or put into a fair to win a prize.

I like this book for the simple language it uses. I also like this book because it is a sequence book that starts at the beginning and shows the steps until the end. The pictures are very bright and go well with the words.

I would use this book at Halloween to teach children how the pumpkins they get at the store are grown. I could also use this book for a lesson on farms and growing fruits and vegetables.… (mehr)
