I really enjoyed this story. The world building was amazing and I could feel for the characters. Casey and Waters were both scientists so they could relate to each other. I liked how the story unfolded, I just wish it had been fleshed out more because it was so interesting.
Oh yeah, and the alien sex was hot, lol. I loved how the author created the biology for Casey's species.
There were a couple parts of the story that bothered me though. One part of the story that confused me was the insistence by Casey that Waters would not be killed and that Water's crew was safe. Casey's people just needed blood samples from Water's to come to a decision about humans. But then later Casey says:
“There’s a whole committee that has to vote on this. It could take several days to several weeks. Approval means everything proceeds as normal. You get back on your ship and continue with your mission.” He paused. “If they don’t approve, human space exploration will be set back.”
Casey means that Waters and the crew will have an 'accident.' So yes, I can see that Waters would be kept alive for a while, but there was no guarantee that they wouldn't be killed. I found the discrepancy of Casey insisting that Waters and the crew wouldn't be killed, but then later saying they could be killed, annoying.
The other thing I found rather abrupt was how quickly Waters fell for Casey. I felt as if there needed to be more of a build up. The author had Casey explain it away as a reaction similar to when he'd been in isolation, the need to connect to a human as soon as he was released from isolation. Still, I would have liked a deeper reason as to why Waters found himself attracted to Casey so quickly and the other way around too.
Despite the two items I didn't like, I really enjoyed Roaming Canisters. I could sympathize with Casey and Waters, the sex was hot and the world building was great. I give this 4.5 Stars because of the issues I didn't like, but raise it to 5 Stars since Goodreads doesn't allow half stars.
