Not a bad effort for a 16 year old to write. Tells the story of twins Imm ans Saxon who live on the imaginary island of Zamascus when it is invaded by the Ingirish in the middle of the night. Zamascus is a tiny almost backward nation (no electricity) and I imagined a Greek island by the author's descriptions of cobbled streets, small laneways and cliffs overlooking the sea. Saxon and Imm are at a teacher's house when the first bombs hit in the early evening. They then witness atrocity after atrocity as they try to discover what happened to their parents and hide from the invades who seem intent on genocide not just take over. With two other shell-shocked teenagers, they hide out in ancient tunnels under the city until they are swept up in the charasmatic aura of a "freedom fighter" called Knight. Saxon is particularly taken by him but Imm has a feeling something is not right. Will the brothers take back their home or will they end up enemies. A very good follow-up for kids who have read the "Tomorrow" series by Marsden.… (mehr)
