brilliant ideas
L'idea è speculativamente interessante, il libro non troppo riuscito (copertina a parte). Gli elenchi non approfonditi di cose da non fare non dicono molto, le note commentate spesso sì, ma lo spazio dedicato a ogni artista è troppo poco per rendere la riflessione un materiale di apprendimento (come avviene per esempio in PhotoWork del 2019 e in buona parte anche in The Photographer’s Playbook, sempre curato da Fulford con Halpern - i tre libri insieme compongono una "collana informale" di Aperture). E le foto messe in due blocchi in mezzo al libro, disconnesse dal testo, rendendo scomodo riassociare immagine e spezzone di riferimento.… (mehr)
A wonderful - and in in fact playful - resource of ideas and exercises (don't think about exercises for the beginner or the casual shooter, this is a serious book, edited by Aperture). Useful for the ever-learning photographer (and everyone who really loves photography will always consider himself a learner) and for the teacher. I've found a good number of nice exercises here, still have to try them...
Amazing, imaginative, deep and ironic book from one of the most inspiring artists of the world of photography. I just took part to a workshop with him, a thrilling and refreshing experience.
