This book takes you through chemicals put into food and what they do to your body. It also explains why people consume these "disgusting" foods. For example, it talks about companies that claim to put 0 sugar amounts in their products. It turns out that thes foods actually have chemicals in them that try to imitate sugars that are worse for your body. People want these foods because they think that they are doing themselves a favor. It also explains chemicals that make food taste better, and how to eat healthy.

This book was ok. It was relatively interesting, because I can relate to it. It talks about things that are seen on a daily basis, and consumed. It also explained any vocabulary that I didn't already know. It did have its boring spots, but there were plenty of fun facts that kept me interested. Overall, I think that the book was pretty decent.

Carbonated Beverages is a good book if you are trying to learn something new. It talks all about how soda affects the body. The book also talks about how you can get disease. For example, Cirrhosis is a liver disease that can be caused by soda. Also, the book talks about “natural flavors” which are not so natural. These “natural flavors” have other chemicals in them. So, it is produced naturally, but they add chemicals to them so that it is not so natural. This book taught me a lot. I encourage everyone to read it.

I personally thought this book was good. I learned a lot, which is good. Although there were a lot of nasty pictures. I learned a bunch from this book though. I have a different outlook on soda and other caffeinated drinks. The book had a lot of information I did not know about. I am glad I read this book.

Leo and his mom has just moved to their new house, after loosing their old one and everything else in a fire. This new house is one of five houses in an isolated cul de sac that were part of an unfinished development. Summer is just starting and Leo hopes to have some fun with his new neighbor friends Nora, and the twins Albert and Oliver. Maybe even explore the extensive woods behind their houses. What looks like a boring vacation turns out to be the most exciting summer ever when the gang finds sinkholes, fantastic creatures, and even a buried one hundred year old carnival.

This middle grade novel was an enjoyable read. The plot is consistent and intriguing. the characters are funny and I got engage to them quickly. Even Colin, a friend from Leo's old neighborhood who you only get to know through his texts adds to the cast. Creepy at some moments, the story has lots of action and a very satisfying ending.

I received this book from the author via LibraryThing in exchange for an honest review.
