Air pressure was a key point in Chapter one. None of the experiments in chapter one would be possible if it weren't for air pressure. This book prove that Magic is just science. You can make water stay in an upside down cup if you have a hole near the bottom of the cup. This book provides all the required tools for the magic tricks. This book explains why this works. The book also asks questions to make sure your reading it.
This was a good book. Its hard to state facts about this book because it has multiple things it talks about. I liked that it contained many experiments that you can just do in your free time. I know it says Magic but I wouldn't use them for magic shows. I would use them for a physics class. But in the second part of the book I would use the tricks for a magic show, after all they are illusions. This was interesting for me since I like doing magic tricks when I have nothing better to do.… (mehr)

This book presents information about water including its cycle, its chemical composition, and sustainability. It provides background facts and then offers suggestions for experiments the reader can do to show these facts in action. However, many of these require actual scientific equipment like microscope slides and pH paper, not readily available in most households. In addition, many of these experiments are rather dull; one calls for literally watching water boil and gauging at what temperature that happens. However, some of the experiments are a little more involved and are actually practical, such as determining if there any water leaks in your home. Suggestions are given for topics to explore further as a science fair project. I could see this book being useful in that regard, especially for high schoolers or advanced middle schoolers who have a scientific leaning already. For the general reader, I would find something else on the topic that is a little more exciting and a little less full of mathematical formulas and chemical equations.… (mehr)

“Experiments for Future Forensic Scientists” by Robert Gardner and Joshua Conklin does a great job of introducing what forensic scientist do and how to become one. Each experiment is laid out with the supplies you need, an experiment, and a crime to solve using your new skills. There are resources in the back of the book for career information and links.
