This was a fantastic book! I can't wait to read the rest in the series. Something about the writing made the story leap from the pages for me. I don't always see a book play out in my mind's eye quite like this one to. The imagery is absolutely fantastic.

*spoiler alert* Nothing made me happier than Flora killing Lord Goering.

*I won a copy of this book from a Goodreads giveaway.

I loved this story! I don't like to use the word “inspirational,” because it sounds cheesy but, this story was... heartwarming and fun.

This story follows the inner-journey of a woman desperately reaching for her lifelong dream of music. She discovers, that who she thinks she is, and what others perceive her as, are two different things.

The character fights physical, mental, emotional, and relational obstacles to her dream, but soldiers on.

The writing is active, and keeps your focus locked-in until the very end. It's funny, honest, and downright true, the way the author describes the life of someone not cut out for their dream.

Anyone can identify with this character, and this story. This is truly a good read for any audience. I think “indie” truly describes this short-story. I recommend this book, to anyone that likes urban drama, or appreciates the life of aspiring artists.

Sincerely,

Ken Wallin

You can always tell a good short story from a not-so-good one. In a good short story, an author is able to connect with you, tell you something important, and leave you thinking, with just a few pages. Heidi Garrett is one such author, and this short story is another wonderful example of her skillful story-telling.

I truly enjoyed this story, and am so glad to have had the opportunity to read it. It was quick, leaving me wanting to know even more about the characters, while still feeling a deep sense of connection. What I loved most, is the fact it has a real point- there is a moral to this story, and that is always something to treasure. This short story will stick with you, and be something you think about for a long time to come.

Being the second of 3 prequel stories to the Once Upon A Time Today series, I am excited to read the third story, and even more excited to read the full series. I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys being touched by a wonderful story.

Hope had yet to fail her.” The Girl Who Watched for Elves, by Heidi Garrett.

Sometimes, short stories can be wonderful. They're quick, fun to read, and usually full of color. This story is a literary grape, bursting with all of that, a bit of magic, and a truly heart-warming story. By the end, you find yourself wishing it was longer, so you can get to know this character even more. Down-to-earth, realistic, and completely relatable, the main character in this story touched my heart and imagination, and left her mark.

Heidi Garrett is one of my favorite authors, and this is simply a wonderful little story from her. Being the first in a set of three related short stories, I'm looking forward to reading the next two!
