This series is designed for the young reader who enjoys lots of candid pictures of a particular breed with a fair amount of written information thrown in. While not an in-depth pet care book, each title does a nice job of encouraging potential dog owners to consider things like the breed's temperament, the family living space where the dog will be a new member, and the amount of exercise and other care needed. The "Fast Facts" inserts on every page are a little distracting, especially since the "fact" given doesn't always correspond with the picture or the rest of the text on that page, but the "pop" factor is certainly high and readers will be engaged throughout. Each title includes an index and glossary; sadly, no further reading suggestions or websites are given.
