Rezensionen

Milton Glaser: Graphic Design, perhaps the most famous book of its kind, explores the extraordinary achievement of America's pre-eminent graphic artist. Here Glaser undertakes not only a remarkably wide-ranging representation of his oeuvre but, in a personally revealing new introduction, speaks of the influences on his work, the responsibilities of the artist, the hierarchies of the traditional art world, and the role of graphic design in the area of his creative growth. His work ranges from posters to book and record covers; from store and restaurant design to toy creations, magazine formats, and logotypes, all of which define the look of our time. First published in 1973, Milton Glaser: Graphic Design is an extraordinary achievement and indisputably a classic in the field.… (mehr)

Loved the art and the display of the sketch(es) alongside the final poster or project. Excellent tool for learning about the process of creating.

This collection of protest posters, mostly from the last twenty-five years, shows just how powerful visually imagery can be in conveying a political message. Some of the images are painful to look at, many are compelling arguments for views with which the reader may disagree. But almost all are worth looking at. The reproductions are beautifully done, and the organization of the book illuminating.

Many pieces in this book demonstrate the power of an image to take your breath away and jolt you out of your comfort zone. The editors have collected images from all over the world, from designers ranging from professional to guerilla, and from issues spanning from the Israel-Palestine conflict to anti-war protests to homophobia and racism. It will absorb you, you will say "Wow" and "Hmm" a lot, you'll realize that an entire evening has passed, and suddenly you see the world a little differently. -Emily… (mehr)
