I could stomach pretentious art students for only about 40 pages, and then I was done. Disappointing because the premise sounded interesting.
Witty and weird, these stories sneak up on you. They do not follow any recognizable structure, so reading them is dizzying. After a while, however, you start longing for longer, more complex syntax. I imagine the author reading the stories aloud in that fake ironic creaky voice. I hope she keeps writing and learns to handle dialogue. That said, the ideas are brilliant.
A strong 5. Best book of short stories I've read in years--crazy, inventive, lyrical, beautiful.
