Jenna Lee Gleisner

I chose this book for my informational picture book and I think this was the perfect book to use for it. The first thing that I noticed about it was the cover and the bright colors on it. That is what drew me into choosing this book because I think that interesting covers are important for everyone, especially small children, which is who this book is aimed at. So, I think that the cover was smartly done. The sentences were easy to understand and the pictures were clear. This book would be very easy for a kindergarten to understand. This would be a great book to teach young elementary students about fall and the changes that come with that. This could also be used to learn about colors since fall (and this book) has a lot to do with the leaves changing colors. Overall, I recommend this book to teachers and students.… (mehr)

Jenna Lee Gleisner is an editor and author who lives in Minnesota. In her free time, she loves to read, spend time with family, and take her dog for runs around the lake. This book is about the different ways that you can celebrate Thanksgiving. The setting of this book is outside around friends and family. Readers are introduced to the concepts of harvest and Thanksgiving traditions, such as volunteering, giving thanks, and spending time with family. For the Mississippi Magnolia Award, I do not think that this book would be given this award.… (mehr)
